The CCHO residents marked the end of summer with a very special outing to Roosevelt Glamping Cabin in Wooster, Ohio for a catered lunch and a lot of outdoor fun. The weather was perfect, and the kids got to enjoy fishing, swimming, canoeing, kayaking, hiking and crafting.
This annual tradition allows our kids and staff to spend the day together and simply play–a trauma-effective tool for connecting and building trust with youth from hard places. The kids also get try new experiences and practice new skills. It’s a day for growing confidence and making memories.
Many thanks to Jenny and Jeff Myers for opening up their beautiful property once again for our staff and kids. Jenny, a CCHO staff member, looks forward to hosting this event every year. Here is what she shared at the end of the day:
CCHO cabin day is over. I've been hosting this day every year for all the staff and kiddos for many years. This was one of my favorite years. Why? Simple things…I got to show a young boy how to kayak for the first time; I got to see kids catching fish for the first time in their life and help them get the big bass off their hook; I had a young girl ask me if she could give me a hug (priceless); I had a young girl say “thank you, the day was perfect" because she said she was socially introverted, and we offered other things to do like rock painting and art. My heart is full. These kiddos are so special. So glad I could participate in their fun today.
Enjoy the photos of the amazing day at the cabin.
