Eight-year-old Caleb had been abused for years. Although he was now adopted by a safe and loving family, the horrors of his past still controlled him. Caleb would lash out at everyone and struggled to manage his emotions.

Caleb was a survivor of abuse and neglect. He was physically and emotionally abused by several family members, witnessed domestic violence and forced to live in abhorrent conditions with little food and no electricity. Caleb did not believe he was loved, safe or cared for.

You made sure Caleb was safe and received care for his unique needs. Because of you, he’s able to just be a kid, exploring new activities in a positive way and building his self-esteem. You have given him the safe space to discover his true worth in Christ.

Bedtime was a trigger for Caleb. He had recurring nightmares of his traumatic experiences. Caleb lived in constant fear and didn’t believe things would ever get better.

But your generosity has helped Caleb find healing and felt safety. Now he looks forward to his one-on-one time with staff at bedtime, talking and reading stories. He can sleep through the night knowing he is safe and cared for.

Recently Caleb got to go on an outing of his choice with a favorite staff member. He chose Scene75 where not a single worry was on his mind. He simply played games and was silly and goofy - something he did not do when he first got to CCHO. Simply put, he got to be a kid.

Caleb once lived in fear and pushed away everyone in his life. Now he is becoming the kind and fun-loving kid God created him to be! So many amazing changes for Caleb because of your generosity.

PS: If you’re inspired by Caleb's story and would like to do even more, you can provide a fun summer outing to a child like Caleb for just $30. Your gift will give a fun and encouraging off-campus outing to a child who has suffered abuse and neglect at home.
