Ready, set, go! Last week, the children’s residential center held its annual Founders Day Field Day. The fun competition marks the occasion of CCHO’s founding on April 22, 1969. Due to the spring snow and cold temperatures, the event was postponed one week.
According to CCHO Program Manager Louis Difiori, “the event gives our kids a chance to interact with each other and have fun!” Fun was the main rule of the day as four teams rotated between various activities including baseball throw, cornhole, bucket ball, and egg toss. Relay races and tug of war rounded out the games.
“Watching the kids be kids is what I love about this tradition,” said Louis. The afternoon was filled with laughter as well as cheers for teammates to do their best. The skills demonstrated by youth and staff were impressive. The competitive energy was all around.
The purple team scored the highest points and was declared this year’s field day champion. Made up of kids and staff from various cottages, the purple team won an ice cream party and the opportunity to paint the rock by the circle drive tree with their handprints.
